Today we had our marble jar party, a FEAR FACTOR challenge!  We had to eat worms with dead flies, toe nails, worms in mud, dry weetbix and we had an ice challenge.  We also had to guess what was in the nappy, we played the chocolate game and played balloon tag!  It was HEAPS of fun!  Check out just some of our photos from today!

I am learning to read and follow instructions.  Today I got to make a wrist wrapper!  It was hard to cut different materials but I found it easy to follow the instructions.  I also got to decorate the wrist wrapper.  I wanted to paint it but I ran out of time.  I am really proud of what I made!

Old to new - Who knew???

For our inquiry we are finding out how we can make something old new again.  We will be upcycling old school chairs to sell at our school gala.

Something NEW is unused, it's in good condition and looks good.
Something OLD has been around for a long time, doesn't look very good and is a bit worn and tatty.

Verbs to use when upcycling furniture:
Redesigning
Altering
Polishing
Painting
Framing
Cleaning
Gluing
Whittling
Sanding

Keep your eye on our blog for more to come....

Quality learning

In maths we have been learning how to read and write coordinates.  This week one group was learning how to put these skills into practise by reading a street map and the other group was extended to learn how to use negative numbers when reading and writing coordinates.  Here is a sample of some of our learning.

Dog Safety

Today Kelly and Phoenix came to visit Bulls School to educate us about how to stay safe around dogs.  We learnt:

1. We have to ask permission before patting a dog- check its sweet before you meet. If the dogs on its own, leave it alone.
2. Let dog smell back of your hand pat dog on the back - not face.
3. Chin or chest is best
4. Meet a pup ask a grown up.
5. If a dog has a snack keep back.
6. Keep your face out of our space.
7. Don't run and stout it freaks us out. Stand still, hands down, don't look in eyes, slowly move to the side - never ever turn your back, turn and slowly back away.  Don't scream.
8. A dogs not a toy don't tease or annoy.
9. Quiet and slow is the way to go.

You can tell a lot by a dogs.  It the tail is up, the dog is happy.  If the tail is between its legs, it is frightened.

Check out the pictures of Phoenix - she could even sing!

Today in Room 5 I introduced a game called "What's in the bag?" as part of our oral language programme.  The students had to ask questions to figure out what interesting item I had bought from home.  I was impressed with the questions that students came up with such as, what shape is it?  Can you wear it?  Can you put things inside it?  Can it be dismantled?  My interesting objects I bought were my old ballet shoes.  Not only were we practising the skills of asking appropriate questions, speaking clearly and listening, the students also learnt about my interests out of school.  I am looking forward to seeing what the students bring from home to share with their class mates!

Mr Small - the cutest puppy in the world!!!

Mr small is the cutest puppy on the planet.  she is 10 weeks old and is soooo small.  It is a she but we called her mr small because it just sounds much better. She is sold and she is going on november but i don’t want her to go because she is sooo cute.  She is 900 hundred dollars for the person that got her but we have already got the money.  She is very expensive. I was sad when my mum told me that she was sold.  tappy the dog is mr smalls mother.   mr small has 6 brothers and sisters.  Mr small likes my mum the most.  Also all the kids in my class love her so much like soooo much. Especially Jordan and the rest of the class jared, cole, toby and cara. Because she is so cute she should be crowned cutest dog in the world.  Me and my brother cuddle with her all the time and my mum but not my dad much though. But no one loves mr small as much as i do, no one no one at all. my mum feeds her and her brothers and sisters every day and sometimes my dad feeds them though.

Please note, we realise there are some capitals that need correcting in this passage.  As we are focusing on capital letters, we will edit this piece of writing together.
